Iconography Workshops with Cheryll Kinsley Potter

The process of 'writing' an Icon takes around 30 hours to complete. Many people find it a calming experience in an otherwise busy life.

These workshops are for beginners and people who have some experience in iconography and want to develop their skills with her support.

You do not need to be particularly skilled in either drawing or painting.

The course consists of 10 half day sessions.

You will learn: tracing and transferring an image onto the board, applying gold leaf to the board, pigment mixing and egg tempera painting.

By the end of the course you will have completed an icon to take away with you.

From time to time Sue Viner, a master gilder, will be a visiting tutor giving specialist support on all aspects of gilding. Cheryll and Sue are currently working on details from the Wilton Diptych  and this will feature in the iconography workshops.

The icons in Cheryll’s courses and workshops will be made on Gessoed Lime-Wood Boards which are produced in Serbia to Cheryll’s specifications by Miroslav Zivanovic. These boards can be purchased in the workshop.
